Tragedy struck in Mgboko Umuoria Autonomous Community in Obingwa Local Government Are, Abia State, when a man identified as Mr. Solomon Monday Orji, was brutally murdered by his cousin, Mr. Chinaedu Omeonu,, over mango fruits.
According to sources, Solomon’s son had gone to Chinaedu’s residence to pick some mango fruits, when he was reportedly flogged until he fainted.
Solomon hearing about his son’s ordeal, had gone to rescue him from the claws of Chinaedu, who he never knew had sinister plans.
They had reportedly engaged in a heated argument, when he arrived at Chinaedu’s residence.
He however took his son and was heading back to his residence, when Chinaedu, rushed inside his room, picked a cutlass and chased after Solomon, who was oblivious of what was to happen.
He attacked Solomon from behind cutting him mercilessly with the cutlass which led to his instant death.
Those who witnessed the scene, pounced on Chinaedu and gave him intense beating before handing him over to the police.
