Rivers Deputy Governor Harry- Banigo gives palliatives to 500 widows across 23 LGAs

The Rivers State Deputy Governor, Dr. Ipalibo Harry Banigo has distributed food items and cash to about 500 widows across the 23 local government areas of the state.

In a statement in Government House, Port Harcourt , Banigo said the gesture was part of deliberate efforts to support the palliative measures put in place by Governor Nyesom Wike to cushion the effects of the COVID-19 stay-at-home order.

According to the deputy governor, who said widows were vulnerable in this period of COVID-19 pandemic, disclosed that she was working with the local government councils to pay cash directly into the accounts of 20 widows from each local government area.

She also added that 50 widows drawn from the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Jesus House have received various food items as part of a deliberate policy to cushion the burden posed by the restriction of movements in the state.
