32 lawmakers donate one month salary to fight COVID-19 in Rivers State

Thirty Two lawmakers in the Rivers State House of Assembly have donated one month salary to the COVID-19 task force in the state to assist in the fight against the pandemic.

The Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Ikuniyi Ibani, announced this at a press briefing at the State Assembly Complex, in Port Harcourt, the State capital, yesterday.

He reiterated the commitment of lawmakers to support efforts made so far by the state government to keep Rivers people safe and healthy.

“Bearing in mind that as responsive and responsible representatives of our various constituencies and more so, acknowledging that the yearnings and aspirations of our people are part of our collective goals, we resolved that one month salary of all members of this Rivers State House of Assembly, be deducted by the Rivers State Ministry of Finance and remitted to the committee set up by his excellency to fight COVID-19 pandemic in the state,” he noted.
