COVID-19: Rivers APC Ag women leader urges women to keep families safe

In light of the evolving COVID-19 pandemic, the Acting Rivers State APC Women leader Hon Beatrice Amobi Dappa has called on Rivers State women to join in the campaign to help themselves and their families stay safe and help “Pass the message to kick out Corona Virus” by promoting the 5 key steps for people to follow to protect their health in line with WHO guidance, focused on 1. Hand washing, 2. Coughing etiquette, 3. Not touching your face, 4. Physical distance and 5. Staying home if feeling    sick.

She also urged women to assist their families in adhering to the safety measures/directives made available by the Federal and State governments in order to contain the spread of the disease. She also enjoined them to take advantage the Nigerian Centre For Disease Control (NCDC) toll free line 08009700000-10 if they observe any of the symptoms of the disease or notice any neighbor developing any sign of the deadly disease.

According to her, “I am fully aware that the impacts of COVID-19 will disproportionately impact people (especially women) in our communities who have limited resources, options and access, hence I call on the Rivers State govt, Federal government to do more in provision of welfare packages to the masses and downtrodden in this time of several restrictions and I also call on well meaning individuals, NGOs, the NDDC,  Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs and other Donor agencies to provide assistance to poor Rivers Women and their families in this time of need”.
