On the 1st of October 2019, Nigerians celebrated the 59th year since the independence of their great nation. The day was marked with fanfare, entertainment shows, religious retreats and much more. The city of port Harcourt was not left out in this buzz of activities as it played host to the 4th Annual STOP THE CYCLE campaign hosted by the NGO: CRCM (Covenant Relationship, Covenant Marriage). The event which held at the prestigious Jevinik Event Centre was graced by professionals from different sectors of society, Entertainment, Education, The Media and Business, coming together to fan the embers of patriotism in the hearts of the over 1500 youths and stdents who came from the South West, South East and South South to be part of this epochal event The convener of the event, Engr. Uchenna Juan Augustine, a Youth Ambassador and a man passionate in Nation building and mentorship granted Africa update an exclusive interview on the vision, impact and aspirations of the Stop the Cycle Campaign…Excerpts from the interview are featured below:

Question 1: *Your just concluded program “Stop the Cycle” on the 1st of October 2019 saw a massive attendance of youths and dignitaries from different sectors of society; all coming together for one purpose: NIGERIA. We would like to know the man behind the vision. Who is Engr. Uche Juan Augustin?*

Well, I’m a Relationship and Leadership Consultant, a Petroleum Engineer from the Federal University of Technology, and also the Lead Pastor of The Sanctuary Missions International. I’m also an Alumni of the Daystar Leadership Academy and a certified marriage counsellor. I’m married to Mrs. Chrystabel Augustine and we have been blessed with three amazing kids.

I would say I’m passionate about mentoring the youths in our society and helping them release thier God-given potential. I believe no one had the power to chose where he was born, but you have the power to change the status quo. So basically I found a problem in my generation which I seek to provide a solution to. The family

is the basic unit of every nation and when the family is broken, the nation is broken.

That’s what the CRCM through the STOP THE CYCLE campaign seeks to achieve: End the Cycle of hatred, tribalism, child abuse, drug abuse, suicide and cultism; vices that many times have thier root from the home, and set in motion the right systems for building a truly great nation

Question 2: *Very interesting. Yet one would wonder sir, if this is a national campaign, why not begin at the capital city Abuja, or a commercial hub like Lagos, why Port Harcourt?*

Well as you know charity begins at home we must start from where we are. And I strongly believe that Rivers State plays a very vital and pivotal role in the economy of this great nation being the treasure base! And the Niger Delta narratives has to be changed! Because the great resources we have does not match the mentality of her people! There is a way Rivers state and her people are perceived and received! Believed to be a people of violence, cultism, family dysfunctionality, militancy, lack of collaborative missions, Youth truancy, poor leadership, insecurity, Abuse, pipeline vandalization etc …This move is the best place and a hub to transmit this message and empower the youths for a better and a brighter tomorrow! Because I believe we can change the narrative of Rivers State. We can change the way Niger Delta is perceived starting from the family to the youthhs and across sectors..

Question 3: *Where do you see this campaign in the next 10years?*

Well STOP THE CYCLE has come to stay. In the next 10yrs I see it becoming a household name, not just across Nigeria, but throughout Africa and the continents of the world as a global brand for National transformation. I see the next generation becoming a new breed without greed. I see a generation of men and women who are patriotic and full of integrity. That doesn’t mean there will not any bad eggs, but the light in Nigeria within the next 10 years will be stronger than the darkness….
