Rivers State Assembly: Ikunyi Owaji Ibani reelected speaker

The lawmaker representing Andoni constituency in the Rivers state house of Assembly Ikunyi Owaji Ibani has been unanimously elected as speaker of the 9th assembly.

The lawmaker representing Ahoada-East constituency 2 Edison Ogerenye Ehie was also elected as the new deputy speaker of the 9th assembly with 32 votes.
According to our reporter Tamunotonte Abiye, lawmaker representing Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni constituency 1 , Christian Ahiakwo nominated former speaker to be speaker and seconded by Martin Ameahule .
The lawmaker representing Akuku-Toru constituency 1 Major Jack nominated Edison Ehie as the deputy speaker and was seconded by Enemi George.
Meanwhile, other 30 lawmakers took oath of office and the house  later adjourned the house till Thursday when other principal offices will be will elected 
The newly elected speaker of the 9th assembly Ikuiyi Owaji in his speech Urged the new members to learn the legislative activities for effective legislation in the state.
Some people who witnessed the inauguration said their expectations from the 9th assembly is to legislate on the issues of insecure , good education , water and  electricity power supply for the good of the people.
