Release Rivers State Governorship result, Traditional Rulers demand

* Ask for Obo Effanga’s redeployment

Reactions have continued to trail the suspension of Election Process for the Governorship and State Assembly in Rivers State, by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

Some Chiefs, Traditional Rulers and Elders at an emergency meeting to review the situation in the state, said that it was wrong for INEC to abruptly suspend an election which was at the collation stage in several communities.

They demanded for the immediate redeployment t of the Resident Electoral Commission for Rivers State, Obo Efanga and the immediate release and declaration of the winner of March 9, governorship election.

They further requested that INEC should commend security operatives, especially SARS and Nigerian Army officers for their efforts at ensuring the safety of lives and property, during the elections.

Expressing their gratitude to the GOC 6th Division of the Nigerian Army, in Port Harcourt, for the exceptional conduct of his officers, they called on the Chief of Army Staff, to approval the posting of more officers to the State to ensure he sustenance of peace in various communities.
