The Rivers State Government has denied reports that it is deducting money from Local Government account.
The State Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Hon Ruderford LongJohn in a chat with journalists described the reports as false.
Ruderford LongJohn clarified that Governor Nyesom Wike has been prudent and transparent in office.
He said, ” Because we are getting close to political period, basically I have to let the public know that his excellency has at no time deducted any money from any local government council and has never authorized such. The general public should as a matter of fact disregard it”.
He added that he is the only person in position to tell if there is any deduction or not, so the public should disregard it and go about their normal business.
The commissioner also lauded the chairman and lawmaker representing his LGA.
” I am from Bonny Local Government Area and definitely I want to commend the effort of the council chairman, the House of Assembly member who is representing my immediate constituency for the much they have done so far and I pray that they will continue to keep it up in the interest of the party”, LongJohn stated.
