Hon Amachree’s trial: Judge berates Prison authorities, special appeal panel adjourns indefinitely

The Chief Judge of Rivers State, Justice Lamikaran Iyaye, yesterday fixed September 27, 2016 for the formal arraignment of a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former council chairman of Asari Toru Local Government, Hon Ojukaye Flag Amachree on fresh murder charge.

Justice Iyaye however condemned the inability of the prison authorities  to produce  Amachree for the second time, despite the warrant issued by the court mandating the prison authorities to do so.

The Rivers State Government had filed a four court murder and attempted murder charge against Amachree over the alleged murder of Mr Ibinabo Dokubo on April 11, 2015.

In a similar development, the special panel set up by the president of the court of appeal, justice Zainab. Bulkachuwa has adjourned indefinitely the hearing of the bail application of Hon Ojukaye Flag Amacbree.

The former council boss, who is standing trial for murder had gone to the appeal court,  to seek for bail after Justice Margaret Okpara of a Federal High Court refused to grant him bail.

The indefinite adjournemt was sequel to an application by Mike Ozakome (SAN),  challenging the powers of Justice Bulkachuwa to set up a special appeal panel to hear and determine the bail application of Amachree.
