step mother gives reason for cutting off baby’s penis

The Niger State government has promised to pay for the medical bills of one month old baby Buhari, whose penis was cut off by his 22 year old step mother , Rabiu  Bara’atu in Kuta town, Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.

Recall that, Bara’atu had confessed to journalists that she had cut off her step son’s penis because she was bitter towards her rival, Basira, whom she said had allegedly mocked her inability to bear children after seven years of marriage.

She purported that her husband, Mohammed Dauda had not done anything to stop her rival and second wife from further humiliating her, so she took the sleeping baby from his mother’s room to the kitchen , where she used a kitchen knife to commit the crime.

In their separate responses,  Dauda and his second wife,  Basira, said the allegations were false and expressed shock at the callous act.

Meanwhile,  Bara’atu was dragged before  a magistrate court in Minna a week ago and has been remanded in prison custody.
