Following the emergence of pictures showing the notorious cultist and killer, Don wanny and a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, from Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area , Hon. Elemchukwu Ogbowu, Â few days after he (don wanny) was killed, speculations have been that the killings were political.
Appearing on Rhythm 93.7fm program, Â this morning , Ogbowu, who is the Special Adviser to the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, Â on projects and financial matters, said Don wanny’s activities were allegedly fueled by economic reasons and not political as insinuated by people.
Blaming the multi nationals operating in the area, Ogbowu said, “Don wanny’s criminality did not start today. It’s long and that was when the former governor was in power. I never agreed with the former governor , so I don’t even go to the village. From there politics started.
“Don wanny even when he was killing. They were fighting. People said it was politics. At a point, they even rubbed in my best friend’s name, Â Felix Obuah. And I came out to this radio station,to say what they are saying is a lie. That it is not politics. It is economic fight . it is cultism.
“Because they were being patronized by the multi nationals. When people say, people are sponsoring don wanny, I laugh. Don wanny was so rich. He was not rich but wealthy. How did he make the money? I am asking how did don wanny make the money? “.
He disclosed that the said picture was taken at don wanny’s baby dedication after he had accepted the Rivers State Amnesty program. Reiterating that Don wanny was his nephew and his presence at the event was family centered and had no political inclination.
Speaking further, he accused past administrations including the immediate past, under the leadership of Chibuike Amaechi of not addressing Don wanny’s criminal activities.
He expressed regrets at the lives lost and consoled families of vicitms, adding that don wanny’s criminal activities were well known to the community and efforts to end such resulted in the murder of innocent family members.
While commending  Governor Wike, security operatives, the Caretaker committee chairman of ONELGA and the OSPAC Chairman, Maxwell Ahiakwo, who he revealed is his relative , he assured citizens of ONELGA of God’s intervention and restoration of peace.
