Husband slaps wife to death over N100

Mr. Onyekachi Anele, 36 year Old native of Obiniezena in Owerri North Local Government Area has slapped his wife to death over N100.
The suspect, who is presently at the Imo State Police Command had allegedly slapped his wife and mother of his two children, Mrs Chikodi, for having the effrontery to retaliate when he slapped her.
Anele said: “When she insulted me over N100, I got angry and slapped her. But she immediately retaliated. I was shocked by her effrontery. I slapped her a second time. She fell down and fainted.
“I love my wife. I had no intention to kill her. It was a little misunderstanding and annoyance that prompted me to slap her and she died.”
He further revealed that his late wife, whom he had been living peacefully with, had a son by another man before their marriage, adding that their first baby, a girl, is four years old; while the second child, a boy, is just a year old.
The Imo state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Taiwo Lakanu, has ordered a thorough investigation into the matter and ordered the immediatee transfer of the matter to the State Criminal Investigation Department, (SCID).
