The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, on Monday, announced that arrangements are at advanced stages for the establishment of a Real Madrid FC soccer academy in the state.
He said this during a meeting with officials of Interact Sports and Real Madrid Campus Experience at the Government House.
Briefing journalists after the meeting, the commissioner for sports, Boma Iyaye, disclosed that a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) will be signed and the location of the soccer academy would be decided afterwards.
His words: “This meeting is for us to work out modalities for the setting up of an academy that will be affiliated with Real Madrid Football Club.
“The academy will scout talents across the state and develop these talents”, he said.
Vice President of Interact Sports, Mr. Kazma, revealed that the group was in the state to establish the Football Academy, which will operate in line with international standards to groom mega-stars footballers.
