An argument between a tanker driver and mobile police officer attached to Diamond Bank creek road branch, which reportedly led to the tanker driver’s death, has resulted in the burning down of two commercial banks in the Apapa axis of Lagos state.
The Head, Corporate Communications, of Diamond Bank Plc, Chioma Afe, while confirming the incident in a press statement said: “We had a fire incident at our branch office on Creek Road, Apapa which severely damaged branch infrastructure as a result of mob action.
“We are working with the Nigeria Police Force and other law enforcement agencies to investigate actions leading to the fire incident.
“While these investigations are ongoing, the branch will be closed to customers for their safety and to allow for completion of all repairs”.
“We will continue to provide updates to our customers via our social media platforms and print media and we urge those customers in the Apapa area to use our broad range of alternate delivery channels like the Diamond Mobile app, Diamond Online, Diamond ATMs and Contact Centre to carry out their transactions.

Africa update gathered that a riot situation erupted at Creek Road, Apapa, earlier today, when a Mobile police officer shot a trailer driver in front of Diamond Bank after an argument to stop blocking the road.
The trailer drivers in a reprisal attack had allegedly set both Diamond and Sterling Bank on Creek Road on Fire after the police officer ran to Sterling Bank to escape being lynched.
